Man held in strangulation case
A homeless man was arrested after he allegedly strangled a woman during an altercation Saturday.
Jamill Shakeem Hines, 26, was arraigned Sunday by Magisterial District Judge Benjamin F. Jones for a felony charge of strangulation and a misdemeanor count of simple assault.
According to the criminal complaint, Hines allegedly strangled a woman Saturday on the 1400 block of Logan Avenue, Tyrone.
In an attempt to escape, the victim allegedly punched Heinz, and he responded by punching her in the head and neck area.
Police said Hines fled the area on foot before officers arrived, but he was later detained in the area of Columbia Avenue.
Court documents state Hines was on state parole at the time and was recently released from prison.
Unable to post cash bail of $25,000, Hines is detained at Blair County Prison with a preliminary hearing on Jan. 18 before Magisterial District Judge Fred B. Miller.
Woman faces criminal trespass
A Tyrone woman faces a charge after police say she refused to exit a borough residence Sunday afternoon after being asked to leave several times, court documents
Rhonda R. Novak, 52, was arraigned Sunday by Magisterial District Judge Benjamin F. Jones on a charge of criminal trespassing.
Unable to post cash bail of $5,000, Novak was confined to Blair County Prison with a preliminary hearing Jan. 18 before Magisterial District Judge Fred B. Miller.
Man accused of sexual assault
A Gallitzin man was detained after he allegedly sexually assaulted a minor, court documents stated.
Kevin F. Lee, 50, was arraigned Tuesday by Cambria County Magisterial District Judge Kevin J. Price for felony charges of aggravated indecent assault without consent, aggravated indecent assault while a victim is unconscious or unaware that penetration is occurring, aggravated indecent assault of a victim less than 16 and unlawful contact with a minor.
According to the criminal complaint, Lee allegedly had several incidences of sexual and unlawful contact with a teenage girl who had been living with him between May and November.
Police said Lee allegedly made several sexually explicit statements to the victim and showed her pornography on his phone.
The victim also told police that Lee allegedly entered her room and inappropriately touched her when he believed she was sleeping.
Lee was remanded to Cambria County Prison in lieu of $500,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Jan. 19 before Cambria County Magisterial District Judge John Prebish.
