Woman strangled during robbery, Mobile Police say – WKRG News 5

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile Police responded to a report of robbery at Inn Town Suites Nov. 24 in Mobile.
Police determined that the robbery happened inside a vehicle, after a man agreed to give a woman a ride to a hotel. 
Once they arrived at the hotel, the man strangled the woman, and threatened to shoot her if she did not give him her belongings. The woman managed to get out of the vehicle, while the man drove off, according to a news release from the Mobile Police Department.
This is an ongoing investigation, according to the release.

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, at about 7:34 p.m., police officers tried to pull over a vehicle at Broad and St. Anthony streets, but the driver sped away as officers approached.
JACKSON, Ala. (WKRG) — The city of Jackson is considering increasing its sales tax by 1% to help fund a new emergency room and renovations at Jackson Medical Center.
Public meetings to discuss the sales tax increase will be held at City Hall (350 Commerce St.) at 5 p.m. on Dec. 14 and Dec. 28. Mayor Paul R. South and council members encourage the public to attend.
